Copycats

Microsoft is copying yet again, and claiming innovation. Vista looks a lot like brushed metal on OS X, and now they have released Microsoft Gadgets, which are quite similar to Mac OS X Widgets.

Well, to be honest, I'm pretty sure that "brushed metal" style themes have been around longer than OSX...

Claiming innovation for a theme is hardly worthy of attention anyway though in my book, regardless of who it is. Unless it does something above and beyond your average "skin", that is.

Another note I forgot to add... on the "Gadgets".

Yes, they sound similar to OSX widgets, but Stardock has been doing something similar on Windows for a few years now with DesktopX. They even have a new DesktopGadgets product based on DestopX (I think), yet doesn't require DestopX to be installed to use them. I wonder if there will be issues with trademarks and the like since Stardock's uses the "Gadgets" nomenclature as well?

I'd agree. I wasn't saying that Apple innovated. Only that Vista reminded me of it to some degree. IN all honesty, I think that Vista looks very awkward to use. The save dialog in particular. I got lost just looking at it.
